Pirate Flag

Have the kids make their very own unique Pirate Flag! This is a great craft for a Pirate Birthday Party, and also makes great homemade decorations!

The Jolly Roger is the most famous Pirate symbol on a flag. However, many Pirates had their own unique flag. It helped to identify the Pirate and was also used to scare off their enemies. The scarier the flag the more likely the enemy would surrender without a fight!

Here's how you make them...

1. Print and cut out the Pirate Flag symbols (an adult will have to do this for the younger ones).

2. Glue them onto your black construction paper.

Most of the Cutouts are obvious Pirate symbols of death - skulls, bones, daggers, swords. The hourglass was also on many pirate flags. Pirates used this symbol to tell enemies that time was running out for them to surrender!
